Yobe gov’t donates N15 million to Nigerian Legion for sacrifices to nation

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has donated N15 million on behalf of the state government and a personal donation of N1 million to the state chapter of the Nigerian Legion in recognition of their sacrifices to maintain unity in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by Yusuf Ali,
Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Digital & Strategic Communications to Governor Mai Mala Buni, the Governor made the remark on Thursday at the launching of the 2022 Emblem Appeal Week at the WAWA Hall, Government House, Damaturu.

Governor Buni acknowledged the performances and sacrifices made by security agencies to protect the nation.

The statement said he specifically mentioned the supreme sacrifice by members of the Armed Forces during the first and second world wars as well as Nigeria’s civil war and other conflict periods in the country.

He made it clear that the nation would continue to hold them in high esteem and honour for their patriotism, nationalism and sacrifice.

Governor Buni emphasised the importance of mobilising more resources to security agencies towards meeting the challenges of modern combat operation, assuring that his administration would continue to support the security agencies for peace.

He appreciated the effort of Nigerian Army and other security agencies, Vigilantees and volunteer groups in the state for keeping Yobe relatively peaceful.

Similarly the SSG, and the Head of Service, announced personal and collective donation of Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and Special Advisers in support of the Emblem Appeal Week.

Earlier, the state Chairman of Nigerian Legionnaires commended Governor Buni for the support and concern shown to the welfare of their members since his assumption as the Yobe State Governor.
