No going back on removal of subsidy – GMD NNPC

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has insisted that nothing will stop the Federal Government from its plan to remove subsidy next year, as this is already a forgone issue.

Mr Kyari Mele, who was speaking as a follow up to an earlier statement in Abuja, yesterday, noted that President Muhammad Buhari was actually the one delaying the subsidy removal, if not so the removal will take place from this year.

Whether the labour congress like it or not, whether the civil society like it or not, the federal government will remove subsidy totally next year, because the exercise is benefiting the rich not the poor.

It could be recalled that no government has ever come in place in Nigeria without talking about subsidies, the Buhari Government is saying that it will give every Nigerian N5,000 monthly to assist them.
